あぶさんは、連載最初から読んでおりました。
ここ10年ほどは読んでおりませんでしたが…

そうですか、連載が終わるのですねぇ。
６２歳かぁ…　あぶさん、そんな年だったんですねぇ。
私も年をとったと実感してしまいますです。

南海ホークスには、かつて久保寺雄二さんという選手がいました。

サードのレギュラーに定着し、名三塁手と謳われた藤原選手の後継者として、また将来のホークスを背負う選手として嘱望された矢先、昭和60年1月のある日、若くして突然の死を遂げてしまいました。

藤原選手のファンであり、藤原選手の引退後、彼のファンになった私にとっても、それは大変ショックな出来事でした。私の中で彼は永遠に忘れられない選手となりました。

あぶさんの作者でホークスの熱狂的ファンである水島先生は、彼の死を心から悼み、作品の中に思いを込めて、あぶさんと久保寺選手とのエピソードを描いてくれました。

あれから20数年が経った今でも、あぶさんを見ると彼のことを思い出します。

お正月気分が抜けない頃に聞いた悲報、私も覚えています。

その中でも私が一番印象に残っているのは（バファローズ　ｖｓ　オリオンズの１０．１９のあの試合があった）１９８８年の１０月１５日。杉浦さんの名文句
「ありがとうございました。行って参ります」
ですね。
